Mason deputy shoots suspect in wood theft

A 50-year-old Hoodsport man was shot by a Mason County sheriff's deputy who said the man tried to run him down with his truck.   Chief Deputy Dean Byrd said a deputy was conducting surveillance on the North Dow Ridge Road above Lake Cushman for a forest products theft investigation.    Byrd said the deputy watched a man stealing wood for a period of time and then called for backup.   When the ......
